Graphite felt can be divided into asphalt base inkfelt, polyacrylonitrile based (PAN based) graphite felt and adhesive base inkfelt because of the different selection of original felt. It is mainly used as heat preservation and heat insulation material for monocrystalline silicon smelting furnace. In the chemical industry can be used as a high purity corrosive chemical reagent filter material.
Carbon felt in vacuum or inert atmosphere after high temperature treatment of 2000℃ above graphite felt, carbon content is higher than carbon felt, up to 99%. In the late 1960 s, the world already had graphite felt commodity supply. Among them, the asphalt represented by Kureha Chemical of Japan is the mainstream in the thermal insulation industry. The thermal insulation felt in Europe and the United States is basically based on viscose, while in China, most of it is based on polyacrylonitrile as raw material. Polyacrylonitrile based carbon felt or glue based carbon felt is cut to the required size, rolled into a cylinder into a container made of graphite material, the graphite container is placed in a high temperature furnace (high temperature furnace is graphite tube furnace, medium frequency, high frequency induction furnace or other heating form of high temperature furnace), with vacuum or through high purity inert gas protection. The heating rate of 100 ~ 300℃/h is heated to 2200 ~ 2500℃, and then cooled to 100℃ naturally.
